We started shooting our film opening! The entire process has been challenging, but as we create progress and see it slowly come to life, it's an amazing experience! We shot all the scenes that did not include any of the fake blood first because we thought it would be easier to do and get done quicker. It was basically all of scenes two and three. We all arrived at Thiago's house to shoot early in the morning because we wanted to make sure we had as much time as possible and we did not want to rush the process. The first shots we ever did were of Gaby (Betty) getting ready in the morning. We wanted to show her personality and characteristics of her through the scenery and setting To make sure we had enough shos to edit and ensure that at least one of them was good to be edited, we refilmed each shot at least three times.
The next few shots were of Betty leaving her room and getting into the car with James and August. The most challenging part of this was making sure the cut from one camera to the next was smooth enough to seem like it was done at once. I had to stay outside the car filming with my phone while Lorena was on the other side of the car with the phone through the rolled-down window filming her getting into the car. To film the conversation in the car, we had trouble capturing everyone's reaction and face to the conversation and matching the audio to their mouths so it did not seem like separate conversations. The storyboard was an extremely helpful guide in ensuring that we knew what we wanted to show the audience but since our phone could not capture everything we wanted, we had to adjust to some of the angles and shots we had originally intended to show.
